What is an Ozone Meter? What is an Ozone Meter?
A ozone meter is an instrument that detects the presence of ozone gas and can also be used to monitor other gases. It is a very useful tool for people in the industrial and environmental fields as it provides a complete picture of the environment. The ozone gas monitor measures the concentration of ozone in the air by using the Beer-Lambert law which states that the ozone concentration is proportional to the amount of light absorbed at a certain wavelength, in this case UV-254. A mercury lamp is used to create the ultraviolet radiation that is passed through a length of tubing with reflective mirrors, at one end, the tube is fitted with a photodiode that is activated by the ozone absorption, the photodiode then generates a signal that can be read on the display or an electronic data logger.
In addition to ozone, the sensor also performs measurements of the abundance of other gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. The ozone sensor was designed to be a highly accurate, low cost gas monitoring device for both surface and space vehicles.
Schools and Offices Are Using Vape Detectors – Here’s Why
The performance of the ozone sensor has been evaluated by comparing its sensitivity to the prescribed vertical distribution of ozone during pre-landing radiative transfer model (RTM) simulations performed with UVISMART. The results suggest that, for the types of dust loading and optical properties expected to be encountered on Mars, uncertainty in the ozone retrieval will not be as significant as it would be for weather parameters, such as pressure.
